What are the main forms of violence against women in Indonesia, and the key drivers of this violence? What support is available to women suffering violence? What are the priorities to combat violence against women, and has President Joko Widodo supported such efforts?

In this week’s Talking Indonesia podcast I explore these issues with Yuniyanti Chuzaifah, vice chair of the National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan), who was also chairperson of the commission from 2010-2014. Komnas Perempuan in March released its 2016 annual report on violence against women in Indonesia.

Look out for a new Talking Indonesia podcast every fortnight, hosted alternately by Dr Dave McRae and Dr Ken Setiawan. Catch up on previous episodes here, subscribe via iTunes or listen to the entire Talking Indonesia podcast archive via Stitcher.
