Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has urged the two candidates in Wednesday’s disputed presidential election to keep their supporters in check until all votes are counted.
Early polling has shown Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo with a 4.5 percentage point lead over former army chief Prabowo Subianto.

Despite both Indonesian Presidential candidates have claimed victory in yesterday’s poll, Professor Tim Lindsey told Bloomberg TV that it was more likely that Joko Widodo had won.
While he will most likely take power before the end of the month, Professor Lindsey told the On The Move Asia program that Jokowi already faces a number of challenges.

The prevailing wisdom regarding the next Indonesian President has been that neither of the two rival candidates would be as friendly to Australia as the outgoing President Yudhoyono.
Asia Institute analyst Dr Dave McRae has previously argued that’s too pessimistic.
And while a Widodo win would initially produce uncertainty (after a decade dealing with SBY) Dr McRae told ABC TV’s The World his victory is a much better outcome for regional relations.
